Momesone Information

Momesone is a prescription medicine that is available as a Cream, Ointment. It is primarily used for the treatment of Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis. Other than this, Momesone has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

The right dosage of Momesone depends on the age, gender, and medical history of the patient.             No, Momesone cannot be used for the treatment of burns. It is used for treating rash, eczema, and psoriasis. Burns can be treated with skin cream, lotion or an ointment containing ingredients like gentamycin sulfate, fusidic acid, silver nitrate, silver sulfadiazine, mafenide acetate, etc. Please do not self-medicate with Momesone for burns and speak to your doctor for a recommendation.

            Can I use Momesone on a diaper rash?

            No, Momesone should not be used on a diaper rash as the diaper might contain an occlusive dressing which might be air and water tight causing an irritant effect on the skin of a child. Diaper rash appears as an inflamed skin portion (also known as dermatitis) on the bottoms of a baby. It develops because of wet and infrequently changed diapers, chafing and also because of the skin sensitivity. It can be cured by using good quality diapers, air drying, frequent changing of the diapers and using an ointment containing ingredients like zinc oxide, calendula, etc.

            Can I apply Momesone for treating acne?

            Momesone is a topical corticosteroid which is used for treating conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It is not to be used on face and that too for treating acne. Acne can be treated by using anti-acne preparations containing active ingredients like alpha-hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, clay, sulfur, etc. Acne is rather one of the side effects caused by Momesone.

            Can I use Momesone for treating discolored patches on my skin?

            Yes, Momesone can be used for the treatment of brown patches on the skin or melasma, however, it is not used alone. It is always used in combination with hydroquinone, isotretinoin and sometimes glycolic acid. Melasma is a common skin condition. It is usually manifested as brown to gray-brown patches on the forehead, bridge of the nose, cheeks, upper lip, and chin. It can also invade forearms and neck. Alongside topical treatment, protection from Sun is also suggested as a treatment.
