It is a popular dish in Tamilnadu cuisine. It is prepared with Sundaikkai vatral also known as Solanum torvum (Turkey Berry)
Ingredients: Tamarind, whole mustard, Bengal gram, curry leaves, jaggery, asafetida, chilly, seasame oil, turmeric powder, fenugreek, sundaikkai (turkey berry), manathakali (Ladies finger), pepper, cumin, salt, and coriander.
Directions for use: Mix 2 to 3 tsp. of Vathal Kulambu mix in 250ml of water and heat to boiling. Serve with cooked rice or pappadam.
Healthy recipe: Boil vegetables like drumsticks, pumpkin, potato, yam etc. Mix 2 to 3 tsp. of Vathal Kulambu mix in 250ml of water in a separate vessel and heat it to boiling. Add boiled vegetables to this and heat for a couple of minutes. Serve with cooked rice or pappadam Best before 6 months from date of packaging.
