Yes, Aloric is helpful in gout. It is used in the treatment of gout which is a type of arthritis that causes intense pain and redness in the joints due to deposition of uric acid crystals. Aloric decreases the production of uric acid which prevents the formation of these uric acid crystals whose deposition results in the intense pain and inflammation of the joints.

What is Aloric?

Aloric is a brand name of allopurinol and it comes in the form of a tablet (solid unit dosage form). It is an antigout agent that belongs to the class of drugs known as xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It is a prescription drug that is used in the treatment of gout (arthritis that causes intense pain and redness in the joints due to deposition of uric acid crystals). Apart from the treatment of gout Aloric is given in hyperuricemia and Chemotherapy-induced hyperuricemia (abnormally high levels of uric acid in the blood). It is also given in the treatment of kidney stones.

Can Aloric cause headache?

No, Aloric is not a uricosuric agent which promotes the excretion of uric acid from the body. Aloric contains allopurinol which is an antigout agent that belongs to the class of drugs known as xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It decreases the production of uric acid by inhibiting xanthine oxidase enzyme which is essential for the biosynthesis of uric acid.
