Aksicef is a brand name of cefuroxime and it comes in multiple dosage forms such as tablet, capsule, injection, and syrup. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs called cephalosporins. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is used in the treatment and prevention of various bacterial infections. It is mainly used in the treatment of pharyngitis/tonsillitis which is an infection of the throat and tonsils, urinary tract infections which are an infection of the urinary system, and otitis media which is an infection of the middle ear. It is also used in the treatment of gonorrhea which is a sexually transmitted disease and skin infections.
