No, Alopur is not a uricosuric agent which promotes the excretion of uric acid from the body. Alopur contains allopurinol which is an antigout agent that belongs to the class of drugs known as xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It decreases the production of uric acid by inhibiting xanthine oxidase enzyme which is essential for the biosynthesis of uric acid.
