Emispan H is a prescription medicine that is available as a Syrup. Common Cold, Allergy, Headache are some of its major therapeutic uses.

Yes, Emispan H can cause irregularities in the blood pressure. It may increase or decrease blood pressure. It can also cause dizziness, bradycardia ( extremely slow heart rate)and tachycardia (very high heart rate). If such abnormalities occur, it is important that you talk to your doctor immediately.

Can I take Emispan H with amitriptyline?

No, it is recommended that you do not take Emispan H with amitriptyline which is an antidepressant with anticholinergic effects. Since Emispan H also has anticholinergic effects, both the drugs produce additive effects such as dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, etc.

Yes, Emispan H can cause constipation as it is one of the common side effects. Constipation can be relieved by drinking a lot of water, eating lots of fiber, taking probiotics, exercising regularly or taking an over the counter laxative. Talk to your doctor for managing constipation, should you develop the same.

Yes, Emispan H comes in combination with codeine. The combination is used to relieve the runny or stuffy nose, sneezing and other symptoms caused by an allergy or a common cold. Emispan H acts as an antihistamine agent by working against histamine released by the body. Histamine is responsible for symptoms like itching, watery eyes, runny nose, etc. Codeine, on the other hand, is a narcotic. It acts as a pain relieving agent by working on the central nervous system.
