Benadryl is taken every 4 to 12 hours as per the requirement. It is important to read the label carefully and follow the instructions completely. If you are giving Benadryl to a child then make sure it is not given to a child younger than 4 years old. Also, make sure that you are using a brand that is exclusively for children. Be very careful while administering more than one type of drug to the child because if there is a common ingredient in more than one drug then it could lead to overdose.
