Ram Kapoor loses 30 kilos and the social media goes berserk! Kudos to Ram for achieving this feat. Known for his roles in TV shows such as 'Kasamh Se', 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain', and 'Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'; his chubby, round-like physique; and his funny demeanour, Ram is now basking in compliments and felicitations for his miraculous transformation. Some fans are even teasing him by saying that they liked the old Ram more.

The actor looks almost unrecognizable in his Instagram posts which show the efficacy of Intermittent Fasting. Yes, you heard it right. The secret behind Ram’s amazing transformation is Intermittent Fasting.

While talking to the media, the actor revealed that he does one hour of weightlifting on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and some cardio before going to bed. He said that he eats within a period of 8 hours and makes sure he eats limited food; for the remaining 16 hours, he doesn’t eat anything whatsoever. If Intermittent Fasting is the reason behind Ram’s weight loss story, those who want to achieve a similar feat would gain from learning what this fasting is all about. Let’s delve right into it.

What is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent fasting comprises cycles of eating and fasting. People who do intermittent fasting abstain from eating anything from 12 to 16 hours to even a full day and eat within the remaining hours. There are different types of intermittent fasting and the window of eating and fasting depends on that. We’ll stick to the one that Ram Kapoor has adopted.

16/8 Intermittent Fasting
This type of intermittent fasting has an eating window of 8 hours. There is usually no hard-and-fast rules as to what a person should consume in these 8 hours, but it is advised to opt for nutritious and healthy food and must not binge eat. For the remaining 16 hours, simply fast. This cycle can be followed once a week, twice a week or daily, depending on individual preference.

Along with weight loss, it is also touted to control blood sugar levels, improve brain function, and promote longevity.

How To Follow Intermittent Fasting (IF)

  • Based on your lifestyle, choose an 8-hour window for eating
  • Incorporate healthy food items in your diet and consume small meals throughout your eating window to maintain healthy blood sugar levels
  • Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, good fats, protein in your meals
  • Drink water, sugarless tea and coffee in the fasting window to keep yourself hydrated  (Read More: How much water should you drink in a day?)
  • Strictly avoid binge eating in your eating window as this can defeat the whole purpose of intermittent fasting
  • Choose your fasting window around a time where most of it gets passed during your sleeping hours

Intermittent fasting isn’t a walk in the park as it requires some time to get used to. Losing a considerable amount of weight takes time, patience, and dedication. To highlight the aforesaid sentence, one should know that Ram had to take time off from his work to shed so much weight. This ‘time off’, according to him, was to be from six months to a year. It took time for him to lose so much weight. Do not expect miracles from IF. Give it time. Do not go astray while following this fasting technique and you will surely reap its benefits.
