Interaction between Alcohol and Xplocef Injection
It is difficult to say anything about the effect of Xplocef Injection and alcohol. No research has been done on this yet.
Yes, Xplocef can cause liver toxicity if taken in higher doses for a long time. You are advised to get regular liver function tests done to keep a check on proper liver functioning while taking this drug.
Do not self-administer Xplocef. It comes in the form of injection and preferably taken 1 - 2 times in a day (Intravenously or Intramuscularly). Take this medicine in the required quantity and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Discontinuing the a in between may promote resistant bacteria which result in a relapse of the infection. You are recommended to complete the 7 - 14 days course even after getting symptomatic relief. In case you feel any discomfort such as breathing difficulties and skin reactions while taking this medicine please inform your doctor immediately.
Occasionally Xplocef can cause a drug to induce hemolytic anemia (abnormal Red blood cell breakdown). However, if your blood reports are showing abnormal hemolytic anemia after taking this drug please discuss with your doctor.
Xplocef works by inhibiting the growth of the bacterial cell wall which is essential for the growth of bacteria. Hence, in this way, it prevents us from bacterial infection.
Occasionally Xplocef can cause drug-induced thrombocytopenia (blood clot formation in a vessel). However, if you experience severe thrombocytopenia after taking this medicine, please immediately seek medical help.
