Yes, Alkasol P has been reported to causes diarrhoea but this occurs in a few cases only. It is the most common side effect of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after taking this drug, consult your doctor immediately without any further delay.

Alkasol P is a brand name of disodium Hydrogen Citrate and it comes in liquid dosage form (syrup). It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as alkalinizing agents. It is used for the treatment of gout (a type of arthritis that occurs due to the formation and deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints). It is also used for the prevention of nephrolithiasis (kidney stones) and treatment of acidosis (decrease in blood pH levels). Sometimes it is used along with antibiotics to treat urinary tract infections.
