Yes, Gexofen can cause bleeding problems, ulcers, and perforation in stomach and intestine. These complications might develop during any phase of the treatment without warning symptoms. The risk may be aggravated for people who consume NSAIDs for a long period of time, who are elderly, who have poor health and who drink alcohol while taking Gexofen. It is important that you talk to your doctor if you ever had ulcers or any kind of bleeding disorders. Talk to your doctor immediately if you start developing symptoms like vomiting with blood, bloody stools, heartburn, and stomach pain

Gexofen is available in the form of a tablet, chewable tablet, suspension and drops, and syrup. Prescription Gexofen is taken every 4 to 6 hours for arthritis and pain. Adults and children older than 12 years may take non-prescription Gexofen every 4 to 6 hours. Children and infants may be given Gexofen every 6 to 8 hours. It is important to take Gexofen with food or milk so as to prevent stomach upset. If you are taking Gexofen every day, remember to take it at the same time. Gexofen is also available in combination with other drugs for treating cold and cough. If you have prescribed a combination containing Gexofen, do not take any non-prescription drug containing Gexofen as it might cause overdosage. Shake the drops and suspensions well before use.

It has a good tolerability profile in children because of which it is used for the management of inflammation, mild pains, and fever in them. Yes, the risk of a heart disease increases with the intake of Gexofen, especially during a long-term use, in comparison to those people who do not use Gexofen. The drug should be avoided if you have had a history heart attack or cardiac ailments. You must inform your doctor if someone in your family had a heart attack or a stroke, if you smoke, or if you have ever had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Call for the emergency help right away if you experience slurred speech, shortness of breath, chest pain or weakness in one side of the body.
