No, Lipirose does not cause diabetes but it might increase the risk of developing diabetes mellitus after long-term use in higher doses because this drug may increase the blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). Your doctor might monitor your blood sugar levels before starting, in the middle and after using this drug.
Yes, Lipirose can be taken with ibuprofen. No harmful drug interaction has been reported between them. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking ibuprofen do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
Lipirose works by inhibiting an enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) which is responsible for cholesterol synthesis in our body, its inhibition results in increased levels of HDL (good cholesterol) and decreased levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) which lowers the risk of developing heart disease and helps in preventing strokes
Yes, Lipirose has been reported to cause diarrhoea but this occurs in few cases only. It is a rare side effect of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after taking this drug, consult your doctor immediately without any further delay.
