Aaxim contains cefuroxime which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). The cell wall protects the bacteria from the environment, in the absence of this cell wall, the bacteria becomes vulnerable and dies. Aaxim is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Moraxella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pneumoniae, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Yes, Aaxim can treat strep throat or streptococcal pharyngitis which is an infection of the throat that results in a sore throat caused by bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes.
Aaxim is a brand name of cefuroxime and it comes in multiple dosage forms such as tablet, capsule, injection, and syrup. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs called cephalosporins. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is used in the treatment and prevention of various bacterial infections. It is mainly used in the treatment of pharyngitis/tonsillitis which is an infection of the throat and tonsils, urinary tract infections which are an infection of the urinary system, and otitis media which is an infection of the middle ear. It is also used in the treatment of gonorrhea which is a sexually transmitted disease and skin infections.
