Novatax O is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). The cell wall protects the bacteria from the environment, in the absence of this cell wall, the bacteria becomes vulnerable and dies. Novatax O is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenza, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus pneumonia.
Yes, Novatax O covers enterococcus. It is effective against enterococcus responsible for causing urinary tract infections, skin infections, gynecological infections.
Yes Novatax O can cause diarrhea. It is a common side effect of this drug. This condition arises due to an imbalance in the gut flora. Generally, most of the antibiotics kill colonies of "good" as well as "bad bacteria" resulting in the imbalance of microbes causing diarrhea. You are recommended to avoid heavy and spicy meals along with the intake of this medicine. Also, keep yourself hydrated and take ample rest in case of mild diarrhea. If you have severe diarrhea consult with your doctor instantly he/she will prescribe you medicines to stop stool output. After you have completely recovered from diarrhea you can choose to have a "probiotic" to ensure the re-growth of good bacteria in your gut.
The dosage of this drug may vary from case to case as it depends on the type of infection and severity of an infection. You are recommended to take this drug as per your doctor's instructions. Precautions must be taken in patients with a history of penicillin allergy, colitis, and impaired kidney function.
Novatax O is bactericidal that means it kills the bacteria. It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). In the absence of a cell wall, the bacteria die.
