Interaction between Food and Pentaloc

Interaction between Alcohol and Pentaloc

Pentaloc is not an antacid. It is proton pump inhibitor which reduce the excess acid in the stomach.
Avoid taking Pentaloc with levothyroxine because it delays the absorption of levothyroxine and also effects the efficacy of levothyroxine. Please seek guidance from your doctor regarding taking these two medicines together.
Pentaloc works by blocking the action of the enzyme in the wall of a stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.
This is because long-term use of Pentaloc can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency. Stomach acids help in the absorption of Vitamin B 12, and this drug suppresses stomach acids which are required for the absorption of vitamin B12.
