No, Topsor alone should not be used for jock itch also known as tinea cruris because it is a fungal infection and Topsor is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi. Hence Topsor should not be used for the treatment of jock itch. For the treatment of jock itch, you can use a combination of Topsor and antifungal drugs such as miconazole and fluconazole.
Topsor contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Topsor prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.
No, Topsor does not cause yeast infections. It has not been reported by the patients who are taking this drug.
Yes, Topsor may cause skin discoloration or color changes. It is a rare side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause behind skin discoloration is not known but it is more likely to occur if the skin is covered with a dressing after applying this drug.
