Tamcuf is available as a capsule and tablet to be taken by mouth in an empty stomach because food can delay the absorption of this drug and also decrease its bioavailability. Precaution must be taken in the patient with prostate cancer, sulfa allergy, and Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome.
Rarely, Tamcuf causes a persistent painful penile erection which is not related to an intercourse. This condition is known as priapism. If not treated properly, this condition can cause permanent impotence. Therefore, if you suffer from any such condition while taking Tamcuf, please inform your doctor immediately.
You can take Tamcuf for as long as it is prescribed by your doctor. Do not take an extra dose or a high dose without informing your doctor. Also, do not discontinue taking Tamcuf on your own as that might cause serious adverse effects.
