Stomach acids help in the absorption of Vitamin B 12, and this drug suppresses stomach acid which is required for the absorption of vitamin B12. Esocor works by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ATPase) in the cells (parietal) of the stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach.
