Yes Marcef S is used to treat typhoid fever. It is a second-line treatment for typhoid fever. If other antibiotics are resistant to salmonella typhi then it is very effective to treat typhoid fever. However, it is best to consult your doctor about the right treatment for typhoid fever.
Marcef S works by inhibiting the growth of the bacterial cell wall which is essential for the growth of bacteria. Hence, in this way, it prevents us from bacterial infection.
Discontinuing Marcef S in between may promote resistance to bacteria which may result in a relapse of the infection.
