No, Atc does not prevent chickenpox. Clinical studies suggest that Atc alone cannot prevent chickenpox caused by varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in immunocompromised patients (weak immune system) but Atc can successfully treat chickenpox with the combination of other antiviral drugs.
Yes, Atc may cause anemia as well as thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) but it occurs in a few cases only. It is a rare side effect of this drug. If you are experiencing tiredness or shortness of breath or bleeding then discuss it with your doctor without further delay.
Atc should be taken by mouth 1 - 2 times in a day or as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food but it is preferred to take with a meal to avoid stomach upset.
