Polimex Information

Polimex is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Drops. Other than this, Polimex has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

What is Polimex

Polimex is a brand name for a compound known as dicyclomine. It belongs to the class of compounds known as anticholinergics (a compound that blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous system) and antispasmodics. It is available as a tablet, capsule, syrup and an injection. Polimex is used for the treatment of functional bowel / irritable bowel syndrome. It also has some local anesthetic properties and is used in biliary, gastrointestinal and urinary tract spasms. It has a mild effect on glandular secretion and cardiovascular system.

Polimex is a carboxylic acid derivative with antispasmodic and anticholinergic activity. Polimex stops acetylcholine from binding to the muscarinic receptors on the smooth muscles, leading to the relaxation of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, and regulating bronchial, tracheal and pharyngeal secretions.
