No, Alkapyrin is not an antacid. It contains sodium hydrogen citrate which belongs to the class of drugs known as alkalinizing agents. It is used for the treatment of gout (a type of arthritis that occurs due to the formation and deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints). Yes, Alkapyrin causes difficulty in breathing (dyspnoea) in some cases but this occurs very rarely. It is a known side effect of this drug. This is caused by the increased concentrations of sodium bicarbonate ions in blood and increased pH levels this leads to decrease in breathing rate (respiratory rate).
