Does Mexate Tablet cause anemia?

Yes, Mexate Tablet may cause anemia, this occurs only in a few cases. It is a rare side effect of this drug. It occurs due to bone marrow suppression which might cause anemia (low red blood cells count), leukopenia (low white blood cells count), thrombocytopenia (low platelets count), and pancytopenia (low red cells, white cells, and platelets). However, this effect is reversible in nature and the function of bone marrow is restored after discontinuation of this drug.
