PD Flam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is used for the treatment of tenderness, swelling, stiffness, and pain associated with osteoarthritis in which there is a breakdown of the lining of the joints, and rheumatoid arthritis in which there is swelling of the lining of the joints. It is also used for alleviation of the menstrual pain, before and during the menstrual cycle. It is also used to relieve fever and pain associated with a headache, minor aches, sprains, common cold, toothache, and backache. It also shows the antiplatelet effect which means it prevents the formation of blood clots. PD Flam is used for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (a chronic skin disease causing scaling and swelling), gouty arthritis (which develops from the built up of some chemical in the joints) and ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis that affects the spine).
No, PD Flam does not contain any sulfa moeity. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
PD Flam is available in the form of a tablet, chewable tablet, suspension and drops, and syrup. Prescription PD Flam is taken every 4 to 6 hours for arthritis and pain. Adults and children older than 12 years may take non-prescription PD Flam every 4 to 6 hours. Children and infants may be given PD Flam every 6 to 8 hours. It is important to take PD Flam with food or milk so as to prevent stomach upset. If you are taking PD Flam every day, remember to take it at the same time. PD Flam is also available in combination with other drugs for treating cold and cough. If you have prescribed a combination containing PD Flam, do not take any non-prescription drug containing PD Flam as it might cause overdosage. Shake the drops and suspensions well before use.
Yes, PD Flam can cause weight gain. Weight gain is one of the adverse effects of taking it as it causes fluid retention or worsens the existing fluid retention. It is therefore important that if you notice these changes in your body and immediately speak to a doctor in case of an adverse reaction to PD Flam.
