Can Clop E be used for ringworm?

Dr. B. K. Agrawal MBBS, MD , Cardiology, General Physician, Internal Medicine
No, Clop E alone should not be used for ringworm because it is a fungal infection of the skin caused by fungi such as Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum and Clop E is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi. Question over 3 years ago
How does Clop E work?

Dr. Haleema Yezdani MBBS , General Physician
Clop E contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Clop E prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.
