The dose of Febucad varies from case to case basis depending on the medical condition of the patient. Usually, Febucad is taken once a day with or without food because the presence of food does not affect the absorption of this drug. Yes, Febucad may cause joint pain (arthralgia). It is a known side effect of this drug. However, if you experience intense joint pain after taking this drug then you are advised to take some rest even after that it persists or becomes severe then discuss with your doctor and follow his/her instructions.

Yes, Febucad can raise or elevate blood sugar (hyperglycemia). It is an uncommon side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause of the high blood sugar level is unknown. Febucad contains febuxostat that belongs to the class of drugs known as xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the xanthine oxidase enzyme which is responsible for uric acid production in our body that results in disruption in the biosynthesis of uric acid which helps in decreasing its abnormally high levels. The decreased levels of uric acid prevent the formation of uric acid crystals and calcium oxalate crystals.
