Nytoin is a brand name of phenobarbital (Phenobarbitone) and it comes in form of a tablet, injection, syrup, and oral drops. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as barbiturates (sedative & hypnotic). It is used mainly for the treatment of seizures and epilepsy. It is also used for the treatment of insomnia (sleeplessness). It is used off-label in the management of hyperbilirubinemia (high levels of bilirubin in the blood).
