Baxativ Information

Baxativ is a prescription drug, available for use as Suppository. It is primarily used for the treatment of Constipation. Other than this, Baxativ has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

This reduces the functional ability of nerves, muscle and vital organs. The body will start depending on Baxativ for bowel clearance and over time, one can also develop a psychological dependence which might lead to eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. The right approach to losing weight is to indulge in some sort of physical activity and eat in moderation.

Baxativ belongs to the class of drugs known as stimulant laxatives. It is a laxative used for the short-term treatment of constipation. It is also used to clear bowels before surgical procedures. It is a stimulant laxative. Alongside taking [Medicne], one should also focus on taking a healthy diet, drinking a lot of water and indulging in some form of physical activity on a regular basis to facilitate a normal bowel movement.

How to take Baxativ?

Baxativ is available in the tablet form to be taken orally and as suppositories and enema to be taken through the rectum. It is usually taken orally 6 to 12 hours before a bowel movement is required. One should not take the oral medicine more than once a day or for more than a week as it might lead to dependence. One must comply with the doctor's prescribing information. A tablet should be swallowed with a glass of water and it should not be split, chewed or crushed.Baxativ should not be taken after one hour of consuming dairy products. If there is no relief, talking to the doctor can be helpful. Suppositories produce a bowel movement within 50 to 60 minutes while enema produces a bowel movement within 5 to 20 minutes.

Can I discontinue Baxativ on my own?

Can Baxativ be given to a person suffering from appendicitis?

No, Baxativ should be avoided in patients with acute abdominal disorders such as appendicitis and intestinal obstruction. It should also be avoided in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and serious dehydration. Additionally, suppositories should be avoided in patient's with ulcerated hemorrhoids, inflammation of the rectum and anal fissures.
