Tixylix belongs to the class of compounds known as phenothiazines. It has antihistaminic, antiemetic and sedative properties. Tixylix is indicated to be used for allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic responses of the body to blood and plasma products. In combination with other drugs, the Tixylix is used for treating the symptoms of common cold like sneezing, runny nose and coughing. In some cases, this drug is also used to sedate patients before labor and surgical procedures. It is also used to treat motion sickness, nausea, and vomiting.

Yes, Tixylix can cause constipation as it is one of the common side effects. Constipation can be relieved by drinking a lot of water, eating lots of fiber, taking probiotics, exercising regularly or taking an over the counter laxative. Talk to your doctor for managing constipation, should you develop the same.

Tixylix works by arresting the free histamines. Free histamines are found in the bloodstream due to allergic reactions, and hence this drug helps in relieving allergic symptoms such as coughing and sneezing. Additionally, it also eases the body and helps in inducing sleep by relaxing the brain. This helps the person to take complete rest and recover faster.

Citalopram is an antidepressant which interacts with Tixylix causing increased serotonin levels in the blood. This can cause adverse cardiac effects like high blood pressure, an increase in the heart rate and this might lead to shock.

Yes, Tixylix can be used safely for the treatment of nausea, cold, allergy, etc., for as long as it is prescribed by your doctor. However, in some people, it may cause some side effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, etc. In the event of a side effect, one must speak to a doctor immediately.
