What is Fenlong?

Fenlong is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is used for the treatment of tenderness, swelling, stiffness, and pain associated with osteoarthritis in which there is a breakdown of the lining of the joints, and rheumatoid arthritis in which there is swelling of the lining of the joints. It is also used for alleviation of the menstrual pain, before and during the menstrual cycle. It is also used to relieve fever and pain associated with a headache, minor aches, sprains, common cold, toothache, and backache. It also shows the antiplatelet effect which means it prevents the formation of blood clots. Fenlong is used for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (a chronic skin disease causing scaling and swelling), gouty arthritis (which develops from the built up of some chemical in the joints) and ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis that affects the spine).

Can Fenlong cause kidney damage?

Painkillers like Fenlong should not be used if there is decreased kidney function as they may reduce the supply of blood to the kidneys. Also, long-term use can also impair the normal kidneys. Therefore, it is important that you talk to your doctor in case you have reduced kidney function. You should use Fenlong exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

How to take Fenlong?

Fenlong is available in the form of a tablet, chewable tablet, suspension and drops, and syrup. Prescription Fenlong is taken every 4 to 6 hours for arthritis and pain. Adults and children older than 12 years may take non-prescription Fenlong every 4 to 6 hours. Children and infants may be given Fenlong every 6 to 8 hours. It is important to take Fenlong with food or milk so as to prevent stomach upset. If you are taking Fenlong every day, remember to take it at the same time. Fenlong is also available in combination with other drugs for treating cold and cough. If you have prescribed a combination containing Fenlong, do not take any non-prescription drug containing Fenlong as it might cause overdosage. Shake the drops and suspensions well before use.
