Interaction between Alcohol and Manohexy
Taking Manohexy with alcohol can have severely harmful effects on your health.
Manohexy contains trihexyphenidyl which is an anticholinergic drug that works through correcting the chemical imbalance in the brain by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (neurotransmitter acetylcholine). Blockage of acetylcholine actions results in relaxation of smooth muscles which helps in improving the muscle control and reducing stiffness. In this way, Manohexy provides relief to the patient from the symptoms of parkinsonism.
Usually, in starting of the treatment Manohexy is given once a day then its dosage is gradually increased as per the need. You are advised to take it as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food but if you experience stomach upset then take it with food. Precautions must be taken in patients with high blood pressure (hypertension), heart disease, and improper liver or kidney function.
Yes, you can take paracetamol (acetaminophen) with Manohexy. Paracetamol does not interfere with the efficacy of Manohexy. Hence, it is alright to take them together. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking these two drugs then do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
No, Manohexy should not be discontinued without doctors advice even when you start feeling well because suddenly discontinuation of this drug might worsen your symptoms. You are advised to always consult a doctor before discontinuing this medicine.
