Midfast Information

Midfast is a prescription drug, available for use as Injection. It is typically used for the treatment of Anesthesia. Other than this, Midfast has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

The optimal dosage of Midfast is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Individual symptoms and route of administration also determines the right dosage. Refer to the dosage section for a detailed discussion.

Common side effects of Midfast include Headache, Hiccup, Cough. Besides the aforementioned side effects, there are other adverse effects of Midfast as well, which are listed below. Normally, these side effects of Midfast are not long lasting and go away when the treatment is finished. However, if these continue for a longer time, consult your doctor right away.

Midfast's effect during pregnancy is Severe and Mild while nursing. It is important to know if Midfast has any effect on the kidney, liver and heart. Information on such adverse effects, if any, has been given in the Midfast related warnings section.

Does Midfast help with pain?

No Midfast alone does not help with pain but it is given along with pain-killer drugs such as fetanyl to help with pain during the medical procedure. Midfast induces conscious sedation which allows the patient to undergo a medical procedure by inducing decreased levels of consciousness that does not require intubation.

Does Midfast cause hiccups?

Yes, Midfast may cause hiccups. It is a rare side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause behind hiccups is not known but it is presumed that it occurs because Midfast stimulates the involuntary diaphragm contractions or by influencing the supraspinal hiccup center present in the brainstem. If you are experiencing excessive hiccups after taking this drug then discuss it with your doctor.
