The oral form of Uthyrox has to be taken at least half an hour before the meal because the presence of food might affect the absorption of this drug from the stomach. It works by restoring the normal levels of thyroxine in the body whose deficiency is resulting in the disease or disorder. Thyroid hormone helps in the synthesis and regulation of certain hormones (adrenaline and dopamine). It also helps in breaking down (Metabolism) the proteins and processing carbohydrates and vitamins which maintains body weight along with growth and development.
