Betasalic S contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Betasalic S prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.

Yes, Betasalic S might lighten skin because it causes skin atrophy (skin thinning) which reduces the darkness of the skin. However, Betasalic S is not approved for skin lightening and should not be used for this purpose because it can cause unpleasant side effects.

No, Betasalic S alone should not be used for jock itch also known as tinea cruris because it is a fungal infection and Betasalic S is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi.
