Does Cartiquin cause low blood pressure?

No, Cartiquin does not cause low blood pressure (hypotension). It has not been reported by the patients who are taking this medicine. It is not a known side effect of this drug. How does Cartiquin work?

Cartiquin contains hydroxychloroquine. It has antimalarial and immunosuppressant properties. It is presumed that Cartiquin works by increasing pH in the acid vesicles of parasite which interferes in the parasite's ability to break down and digest hemoglobin. Malarial parasites need hemoglobin for growth and survival. This results in starvation and death of parasites. Cartiquin works in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) by suppressing the immune system which provides relief to the patient from pain and inflammation. However, the exact mechanism how Cartiquin works in autoimmune diseases is still unknown.
