Codylex Information

Codylex is a prescription drug, available for use as Syrup. Other than this, Codylex has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

The optimal dosage of Codylex is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. The condition it has been prescribed for, and the route of administration also determine the right dosage. For detailed information on this, read through the dosage section.

Besides the aforementioned side effects, there are other adverse effects of Codylex as well, which are listed below. Such side effects of Codylex normally do not last long and go away once the treatment is completed. However, if these continue for a longer time, consult your doctor right away.

In addition, Codylex's effect is Moderate during pregnancy and Moderate for lactating mothers. Warnings related to Codylex's effects on the liver, heart and kidney, if any, have been listed below.

Codylex Dosage & How to Take

This is the usual dosage recommended in most common treatment cases. Please remember that every patient and their case is different, so the dosage can be different based on the disease, route of administration, patient's age and medical history.

Find the right dosage based on disease and age

  • Disease: Sore Throat
  • Before or After Meal: Either
  • Single Maximum Dose: 10 ml
  • Dosage Route: Oral
  • Frequency: 6 hourly
  • Course Duration: 7 days
  • Special Instructions: strength 100 mg ibuprofen and 15 mg pseudoephedrine in 5 ml, patients below 5 years old should take 5 ml 4 times daily

What is Codylex?

Codylex is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is used for the treatment of tenderness, swelling, stiffness, and pain associated with osteoarthritis in which there is a breakdown of the lining of the joints, and rheumatoid arthritis in which there is swelling of the lining of the joints. It is also used for alleviation of the menstrual pain, before and during the menstrual cycle. It is also used to relieve fever and pain associated with a headache, minor aches, sprains, common cold, toothache, and backache. It also shows the antiplatelet effect which means it prevents the formation of blood clots. Codylex is used for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (a chronic skin disease causing scaling and swelling), gouty arthritis (which develops from the built up of some chemical in the joints) and ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis that affects the spine).

Yes, the risk of a heart disease increases with the intake of Codylex, especially during a long-term use, in comparison to those people who do not use Codylex. The drug should be avoided if you have had a history heart attack or cardiac ailments. You must inform your doctor if someone in your family had a heart attack or a stroke, if you smoke, or if you have ever had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Call for the emergency help right away if you experience slurred speech, shortness of breath, chest pain or weakness in one side of the body.
