Cefactam Information

Cefactam is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Injection. Other than this, Cefactam has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

Medical history of the patient along with age and gender determines the dosage of Cefactam. The condition it has been prescribed for, and the route of administration also determine the right dosage. Refer to the dosage section for a detailed discussion.

Cefactam also has some side effects, the most common being Diarrhoea, Stomach Upset. Apart from the aforementioned side effects, Cefactam can also lead to other problems, which have been listed below. Usually, these side effects of Cefactam go away soon, and do not persist beyond the duration of the treatment. Please speak with your doctor if these side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.

This is the usual dosage recommended in most common treatment cases. Please remember that every patient and their case is different, so the dosage can be different based on the disease, route of administration, patient's age and medical history.

13 - 18 years (Adolescent)
  • Disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
  • Before or After Meal: As advised by a physician
  • Single Maximum Dose: 1500 mg
  • Dosage Route: Parenteral
  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Course Duration: 7 days
  • Special Instructions: Dosage strength: Cefoperazone (1000mg) + Sulbactam (500mg), generally 1:1 ratio doses are used
2 - 12 years (Child)
  • Disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
  • Before or After Meal: As advised by a physician
  • Single Maximum Dose: 30 mg/kg
  • Dosage Route: Parenteral
  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Course Duration: 7 days
  • Special Instructions: Generally dose are given in 1:1 ratio
Adult
  • Disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
  • Before or After Meal: As advised by a physician
  • Single Maximum Dose: 3000 mg
  • Dosage Route: Parenteral
  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Course Duration: 7 days
