Interaction between Alcohol and Lotensyl AT
Consuming Lotensyl AT with alcohol can have many serious effects on your body.
Lotensyl AT contains atenolol which is presumed to work through multiple mechanisms. It reduces blood pressure and slows down the fast heartbeat by blocking the influx of calcium ions and binding to certain receptors (beta-adrenoceptors) in the smooth muscles of heart which prevent the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline that also contributes in decreasing myocardial (heart) oxygen demand.
Rarely, Lotensyl AT causes hair loss (alopecia). However, the exact cause behind hair loss is unknown but it is presumed that it occurs because of thinning of the hairs which weakens their strength. If you are experiencing excessive hair loss after taking this drug then do discuss it with your doctor.
Yes, Lotensyl AT and amlodipine can be taken together only on your doctor's advice. Lotensyl AT give synergistic effect when taken along with amlodipine. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking this drug along with amlodipine then do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
Yes, sometimes Lotensyl AT might cause cough reflex. It occurs due to bronchoconstrictive (narrowing of the airways) effect of this drug. It is a rare side effect of this drug. If you are experiencing excessive coughing after taking this drug then you are advised to consult with your doctor.
