Megest Information

Megest is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Tablet. It is primarily used for the treatment of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding, Contraceptives. Secondary and off-label uses of Megest have also been mentioned below.

The optimal dosage of Megest is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. The condition it has been prescribed for, and the route of administration also determine the right dosage. This information has been provided in detail in the dosage section.

Besides the aforementioned side effects, there are other adverse effects of Megest as well, which are listed below. Such side effects of Megest normally do not last long and go away once the treatment is completed. If, however, they worsen or do not go away, please speak with your physician.

Megest is a brand name of medroxyprogesterone and it comes in the form of tablet and injection. It belongs to the class of drug known as progestins. It is a prescription drug that is used for the treatment of menorrhagia (abnormally heavy bleeding), secondary amenorrhoea (absence of periods over the duration of three months or more), and endometrial hyperplasia (overgrown lining of the uterus). It is also used for contraception (a method of birth control) and off-label for the treatment of paraphilia (abnormal sexual behavior).
