Rebacer contains rebamipide which is presumed to work through multiple mechanisms. In gastric ulcer and gastritis Rebacer works by promoting the synthesis of prostaglandins through inducing cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) enzyme that prevents the damage to gastric mucosa which promotes healing of gastric ulcers. It also increases the gastric blood flow and decreases the free oxygen radicals which cause inflammation. For dry eye Rebacer works by increasing the secretion of naturally occurring mucin which improves lubrication and hydration in the eye and also by restoring the microstructure which is responsible for tear stability.
Yes, oral Rebacer might cause dry mouth because it decreases the saliva secretion in your mouth. It is a rare side effect of this drug. If you experience excessive dry mouth after taking this drug then try to keep yourself hydrated with juices, shakes and ample water.
