Sulbapen Information

Sulbapen is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Injection. Sulbapen also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.

The optimal dosage of Sulbapen is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Individual symptoms and route of administration also determines the right dosage. For detailed information on this, read through the dosage section.

Sulbapen also has some side effects, the most common being Diarrhoea, Stomach Upset. Apart from the aforementioned side effects, Sulbapen can also lead to other problems, which have been listed below. Sulbapen Dosage & How to Take

This is the usual dosage recommended in most common treatment cases. Please remember that every patient and their case is different, so the dosage can be different based on the disease, route of administration, patient's age and medical history.

13 - 18 years (Adolescent)
  • Disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
  • Before or After Meal: As advised by a physician
  • Single Maximum Dose: 1500 mg
  • Dosage Route: Parenteral
  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Course Duration: 7 days
  • Special Instructions: Dosage strength: Cefoperazone (1000mg) + Sulbactam (500mg), generally 1:1 ratio doses are used
2 - 12 years (Child)
  • Disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
  • Before or After Meal: As advised by a physician
  • Single Maximum Dose: 30 mg/kg
  • Dosage Route: Parenteral
  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Course Duration: 7 days
  • Special Instructions: Generally dose are given in 1:1 ratio
Adult
  • Disease: Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
  • Before or After Meal: As advised by a physician
  • Single Maximum Dose: 3000 mg
  • Dosage Route: Parenteral
  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Course Duration: 7 days
  • Special Instructions: Dosage strength: Cefoperazone (2000mg) + Sulbactam (1000mg), generally 1:1 ratio doses are used
