No, Tenovate NM alone should not be used for ringworm because it is a fungal infection of the skin caused by fungi such as Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum and Tenovate NM is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi. Hence Tenovate NM should not be used for the treatment of ringworm. For the treatment of ringworm, you can use a combination of Tenovate NM and antifungal drugs such as miconazole and fluconazole.
Application of Tenovate NM on the face must be avoided but if it has been advised by your doctor then you can use it only for a short-term period not more than 5 days because the skin on your face thins easily.
Tenovate NM is a brand name of clobetasol and it comes in the form of ointment, cream, and lotion. It belongs to the class of drug known as steroids (corticosteroids). It is a prescription drug used for the treatment of skin diseases such as corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, scalp psoriasis, and plaque psoriasis.
Yes, Tenovate NM might lighten skin because it causes skin atrophy (skin thinning) which reduces the darkness of the skin. However, Tenovate NM is not approved for skin lightening and should not be used for this purpose because it can cause unpleasant side effects.
