Xet contains paroxetine which belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that works by inhibiting the reuptake (reabsorption) of a neurotransmitter (chemical messenger) serotonin which is presumed to be associated with the feeling of well-being and happiness. Low levels of serotonin in our brain cause low mood and depression. Inhibition of reuptake of serotonin by Xet results in its increased concentration in our brain which helps in elevating the mood.
