Meclomide Information

Meclomide is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Suspension. Primarily, it is used for the treatment of Nausea and Vomiting. Other than this, Meclomide has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

How does Meclomide work?

Meclomide contains metoclopramide which is an antiemetic agent that prevents from nausea and vomiting by inhibiting certain chemical messengers (neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin) in the brain. In diabetic gastroparesis, Meclomide works by increasing gastrointestinal motility and fasting the gastric emptying process. In gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Meclomide works by increasing lower esophageal sphincter (LES) tone which prevents the gastric contents to reach food pipe that causes symptoms associated with GERD.
