Doxycycline + Tinidazole is a brand name for doxycycline. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medications called tetracycline. It is available in different dosage forms such as tablet, capsule, syrup, and cream. Doxycycline + Tinidazole is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial as well as protozoal infection. It is used in the treatment of various type of infections such as pneumonia, respiratory tract infection, rickettsial infections, sexually transmitted infections, ophthalmic infections, anthrax including inhalational anthrax, and prophylaxis of malaria. It is also used in combination with other medications to treat acne and pimples. Sometimes Doxycycline + Tinidazole is also used as an alternative treatment for selected infections when penicillin is contraindicated.
Avoid taking Doxycycline + Tinidazole with contraceptive pill because medicine can decrease the effects of the contraceptive pill. Keep your doctor informed before taking them together. Try other methods of contraception such as condoms, barrier methods to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
Avoid taking Doxycycline + Tinidazole with penicillin. Because Doxycycline + Tinidazole is bacteriostatic which may affect the bactericidal effect of penicillin.
