No, Aminat cannot be taken with penicillin. Because penicillin inactivates the Aminat by combining the beta-lactam ring of penicillin with an amino group of this drug to form amide which is biologically inactive. For this reason Aminat should not be taken with penicillin. The chances of inactivation of this drug are higher in case of renal failure because in this case concentration of penicillin is higher in the kidney for a longer time as compared to the normal renal function.
Yes, Aminat is effective against bacteria (Pseudomonas). But it is also found that Pseudomonas can get resistant to this drug and in that case Aminat will not produce desired results. If you are experiencing no symptomatic relief after taking this medicine then inform your doctor and follow his/her instructions.
Aminat can be safely taken as prescribed by your doctor. Do not discontinue the medicine suddenly or take it longer than prescribed duration.
Discontinuing Aminat on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
