Consuming Dilcal Tablet SR with alcohol can have many serious effects on your body.
Dilcal is a calcium channel blocker. It works by inhibiting the movement of calcium into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac cells which inhibits the contraction of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle and reduce electrical conduction within the heart cell and dilate blood vessel. Dilation of the blood vessel reduces the blood pressure and decreases the chance of angina.
Yes, Dilcal can cause edema (swelling). It is the most common side effects of this drug. Usually swelling occurs in face, eyes, lips, tongue, hands, arms, feet and ankle. If these effects cause troublesome, then consult your doctor regarding whether this effect arises due to diltiazem consumption or not. If yes, then you can stop taking this medicine with the help of doctor because of alternate treatment are also available. However, it is dose-related effects if taken a low dose, chances of edema (swelling) are very less if consuming high dose the chances of edema (swelling) are high.
