Metavom

Metavom contains metoclopramide which is an antiemetic agent that prevents from nausea and vomiting by inhibiting certain chemical messengers (neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin) in the brain. In diabetic gastroparesis, Metavom works by increasing gastrointestinal motility and fasting the gastric emptying process. In gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Metavom works by increasing lower esophageal sphincter (LES) tone which prevents the gastric contents to reach food pipe that causes symptoms associated with GERD.

Rarely, Metavom causes diarrhoea. It is an uncommon side effect of this drug. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after taking this drug then discuss with your doctor immediately without any further delay. 

Yes, Metavom can cause blood pressure fluctuations (such as hypertension or hypotension). However, it is a rare side effect of this drug which occurs in a few cases only. If you are already suffering from any heart disease then inform your doctor about it so that he may take precautions in advance.

Yes, Metavom can be used for hiccups. It has been found to be very successful in providing relief from intractable hiccups in many clinical studies. Since Metavom is a prescription drug, you are advised to not take it by yourself without doctor's advice.

Yes, Metavom might cause a headache. It is a rare side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause of a headache is still unknown.
