Occasionally, Fungiban causes constipation when it is taken orally, while the interavenous administration of the medication does not cause constipation or other stomach related issues.
Fungiban inhibit the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme lanosterol 14- demethylase and thus block ergosterol synthesis leading to membrane abnormalities in the fungus. It kills the fungus by destroying its cell membrane.
