Omed(Paj) is a brand name for omeprazole. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medications called proton pump inhibitor. It is used for the treatment of erosive esophagitis, peptic and duodenal ulcer, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also used in combination with a certain antibiotic to prevent ulcer associated with H. pylori.
Omed(Paj) should be taken 30 - 60 minute before meal. Preferably it should be taken once a day in the morning before breakfast. However, some people may require to take it twice in a day, in this case, 1 tablet should be taken in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening before meal. Please consult your doctor regarding the exact dosage regime of medicine and follow his/her instruction.
Rarely Omed(Paj) causes stomach cancer. There has been no direct relationship to establish the fact. However, stomach cancer and other cancers may develop because of recurring acid reflux for a long time for example 7 - 8 years or more. If you feel any symptoms associated with cancer such as consistent low-grade fever, weight loss due to unexplained reasons, and pain in the abdomen. Do not hesitate to get it diagnosed by a physician.
Rarely Omed(Paj) causes dementia. However, if you experience dementia after taking this medicine then inform to doctor right away and follow his/her instructions.
Yes, Omed(Paj) is safe to use, if taken in prescribed amount and duration as advised by your doctor. However, very few side effects are observed such as stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, vomiting, and joint pain.
